No doubt you have heard how important it is to have a list. But you may be wondering just how to go about building a targeted list? There are several different ways to achieve this and one of those is by joining Giveaway Events. The problem can be in knowing which ones to join.
I had looked at these types of events a few times and had heard both positive and negative comments from other marketers. So I was definitely a little wary of joining a giveaway. After all you are putting your reputation on the line. It is important to join a giveaway that offers quality products.
There are certain people that I follow online and one of those is Willie Crawford. He recently suggested joining a certain giveaway event. So I did exactly this and joined and added my own report. I just used some of my own PLR material, quickly rewrote it, added an ecover and used it as my giveaway. This giveaway was in the health and exercise niche.
For promotion I didn’t want to spend anything on advertising so I used free methods. I posted notices about the giveaway on Facebook, Twitter, wrote a blog post about it and some other social networking sites. I got good results from Stumble Upon.
I can’t say that I went crazy with promoting this as I wasn’t sure what type of results I would get. I checked my autoresponder account a few days later and saw that I had quite a few signups! This motivated to do a little more promotion. I ended up with around 70 new subscribers in about a two week period. Not bad at all!
Think what my results might have been had I really promoted it hard! With these results I will go ahead and promote this giveaway event next year for sure.
If you have been wondering about joining a giveaway then I suggest that you try one and see what results you get. Just research who is running the event and see what type of response they have received from past giveaways. There are plenty of good ones out there, you just need to find them.
If you are following certain marketers and trust them then ask them for recommendations on which giveaway events they participate in. These giveaways can really help you build a list and is another option that shouldn’t be ignored.
I would love to hear if you have participated in a giveaway event and what your results were. Just leave me a comment below!
Sue,
I myself shied away from these give-away events for the longest time. I did not like the idea of sharing my list with the rest of the world (I value it way too much) but then recently I was asked to participate in a WSO buyer list giveaway event. The idea was that only a select few people were allowed to participate (individuals who ran successful WSOs) and as such I figured I’d give it a shot.
The end result was: An extra $100 or so in OTO sales (100% profit for me) and about 70 or so new subscribers to my list. The best part of it was that those 70 new subscribers to my list were buyers (assuming all participating partners stuck to the rules) 🙂
Not too bad I would say for a free give-away (it did not cost me a dime).
Great post!
Konrad
That’s sounds great Konrad. I don’t want to be sharing my list either but figured I could build a new list with this method. The small list I do have is a buyer’s list so I am careful about what I email them.
I think for building new lists this could be a great method to use. As long as you find a quality giveaway event to participate in.
Thanks
Well said and agreed!
